Request for Proposal
The Cass County Road Commission is accepting proposals for design engineering for the replacement of
the Cassopolis Road Bridge over Christiana Creek in Calvin Township. Funding will include funds
from the State of Michigan Critical Bridge Fund and all design shall comply with current Michigan
Department of Transportation requirements for design and plan submittals. Design, including survey,
soil borings, plans, specifications, and all necessary permitting, shall be included as part of requested
services. The Cass County Road Commission anticipates funding for this bridge in FY 2029, with the
potential to move the bridge replacement ahead one (1) year at MDOT’s discretion. Construction to
begin in the spring of the funded FY and be complete by September of the same year..
All interested consultants shall provide a proposal in duplicate to the Cass County Road Commission at
its offices at 340 North O’Keefe Street, Cassopolis, Michigan, 49031 on or before 9:00 a.m. on June 8,
2026, in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Cassopolis Road Bridge over Christiana Creek”. All
submittals received after this time shall be returned unopened.
The proposals, at a minimum, shall include the following:
1. Consultant’s name and experience with similar projects.
2. Office location where work shall be performed.
3. Consultant’s current audited overhead rate.
4. Consultant’s Project Manager and experience with similar projects.
5. Consultant’s staff members to be assigned to project and work experience.
6. List of any potential subcontractors and phases of work they would perform.
7. Capacity of staff to perform the work in a timely fashion relative to present work load and
availability.
8. Description of project approach relative to anticipated work elements, including a proposed
schedule of work elements and required submittals, reviews, meetings, etc…
The Cass County Road Commission will evaluate the submitted proposals and interview the top three
(3) consultants between June 15 and June 18, 2026.
